20th UNESCO Sound Week
Thomas
Dutronc
Son of Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy, Thomas Dutronc has been immersed in music for as long as he can remember.
After learning to play guitar and collaborating with gypsy jazz musicians (AJT Guitar Trio), he made a remarkable entry into the world of song in 2007 with his first album Comme Un Manouche Sans Guitare and the track J’aime plus Paris.
Next album Silence On Tourne, On Tourne en Rond (2011), in the gypsy jazz style he loves, reached No. 2 in the charts, ahead of Eternels Jusqu’à Demain (2015), recorded in London and opening up to more pop-rock sounds.
Its reissue includes a live recording from the Ferber studio (Live Manouche à Ferber).
2018 sees the release of his second live album, entitled Live Is Lovein which the guitarist and singer is accompanied by Les Esprits Manouches.
Back in the studio, Thomas Dutronc records his fourth album Frenchy (2020), with jazz musicians Rocky Gresset (guitar), Eric Legnini (piano), Thomas Bramerie (double bass) and Denis Benarrosh (drums).
Comprising French chanson and jazz standards, it includes collaborations with Iggy Pop, Diana Krall, Billy Gibbons, Youn Sun Nah, Stacey Kent and Jeff Goldblum.
In 2021, he and his father released the album Dutronc & Dutronc in which they cover their great standards as a duo.
For this 20th edition of UNESCO’s Week of Sound, which marks 20 years of the association’s existence and 20 years of action in favor of sound, Thomas Dutronc will give an exceptional concert on the opening night.
