SOUND ENVIRONMENT AND WELL-BEING

in partnership with CEPREMAP (CEntre de recherche EconoMique et ses APplications)

Thursday January 23 - 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Auditorium de l'Institut de l'audition
63 rue de Charenton
75012 Paris

We all have the intuition: there’s a correlation between our well-being and the noise environment to which we’re exposed. A few years ago, Cynthia Fleury drew our attention to the fact that our societies provide noise for the poor and silence for the well-off. But can we measure this impact? At the CEntre Pour la Recherche EconoMique et ses APplications (CEPREMAP), the Institut du Bien-Être has developed methods for measuring perceived well-being and its evolution. La Semaine du Son therefore contacted the observatory to see if an approach could be developed to measure the link between well-being and the sound environment. The first step was to assimilate the work already done on the subject. This work is being undertaken by the Observatoire du bien-être, and the results will be presented this afternoon.
The meeting will take place at the Institut de l’audition, a joint research unit between the Institut Pasteur and INSERM. 2:30 pm: Opening speeches
Aziz el Amraoui, Director of the “Progressive Sensory Deficits, Pathophysiology and Therapy” Unit
