We invite you to join us for a world premiere. The 60-minute documentary film-concert entitled “Archeoconcert, le passé a des oreilles à Notre- Dame” is an acoustic and musical voyage through the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.
This film takes you on a journey through the acoustic evolution of Notre-Dame over the centuries.
From the 12th to the 20th century, eleven emblematic musical pieces heard in the acoustics of the corresponding architecture, will enable you to discover the sounds of each era, as our ancestors were able to hear them. How was this return to the sources of the past possible?
Brian F.G Katz, Director of Research at the CNRS and acoustician at Sorbonne University, and his team have carried out interdisciplinary research and numerous projects in partnership with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
This film is based on visual and acoustic 3D modelling of the cathedral, tracing its evolution from its construction to the present day. To recreate this acoustic and musical journey, the pieces concerned were recorded in the studio and then projected in a virtual acoustic, reconstructed to correspond to each era. Thanks to the Pathé Wepler cinema, equipped with digital projectors for an immersive cinematic experience with Dolby Atmos sound, you can fully experience this culturally rich event, between past, present and future.
