Ibrahim Maalouf was born in Beirut in 1980.
He is the son of trumpeter Nassim Maalouf and pianist Nada Maalouf, and nephew of writer Amine Maalouf.
From his father, he inherited the exacting standards, rigor and taste for freedom that led him towards music, a choice that was confirmed independently of his family environment.
