Jean Musy (1947-2024), born in Levallois-Perret, is a musician, composer and arranger of songs and film scores.
He has recorded over a thousand singles and 150 albums, composed almost 200 soundtracks for films and TV series, and numerous songs.
He has composed an opera, illustrated poems by Stefan Zweig and Rainer Maria Rilke, and written a musical fresco inspired by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
As a teenager, he discovered the Hammond organ and jazz.
By the age of 14, he had joined a number of bands, performing his first concerts in Paris jazz clubs.
At 16, he met Mickey Baker, American guitarist, studio musician and arranger for Johnny Hallyday, who led him to become Nino Ferrer’s accompanist.
For a year, he toured with him and recorded the album Je voudrais être noir’ in a studio in Dijon. In 2016, he was awarded the SACEM Grand Prix de la musique pour l’image for his body of work.
He created the soundtracks for Costa Gavras’ Clair de Femme (1979), Jean-Marie Poiré’s Papy fait de la résistance (1983) and many others.
