Founded in 1993 by Professor René Dauman, the association’s primary aim is to bring together all professionals with an interest in Audiology (ENTs, Phoniatrists, Neurologists, Audioprosthetists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Acousticians, Scientists, Industrialists and other professions).

The SFA organizes the annual World Audiology Congress in Paris.

The objectives of the French Audiology Society are:

• To research, promote, encourage and apply all means of improving understanding of auditory phenomena and combating deafness and other hearing impairments by encouraging research efforts, either through direct action or by participating in actions undertaken by other organizations.
• To conduct and/or participate in studies on hearing, hearing disorders and ways of dealing with them.
• To design and develop all means to ensure hearing conservation.
