The Institut de l'audition is an Institut Pasteur center working on fundamental and medical research into hearing.

The Institut de l’audition is a joint research unit between the Institut Pasteur and Inserm (Institut nationale de la santé et de la recherche médicale), and includes scientific staff from the Institut Pasteur, Inserm, CNRS and AP-HP. It benefits from the support and financial backing of the Fondation Pour l’Audition.

IdA’s ambition is to advance fundamental research on the auditory system in order to improve our understanding of the principles and mechanisms that condition the development and functioning of the auditory system. His research focuses on auditory perception and cognition, sound communication, multisensory integration, and interactions between the genome and the sound environment.

Christine Petit, Professor Emeritus at the Collège de France and Professor at the Institut Pasteur, is the founding director of the Institut de l’Audition, now headed by neuroscientist Professor Anne-Lise Giraud.

The Institut de l’audition seeks to develop new translational approaches to bring together converge methods and knowledge, and bring together researchers from all the scientific disciplines involved in hearing.

The Institut de l’Audition is committed to interdisciplinarity and knowledge transfer, and to fostering collaboration between different institutions by bringing together doctors, researchers, innovation players, manufacturers, associations and patients.

It has a Centre for Research and Innovation in Human Audiology (CeRIAH), tasked with developing new diagnostic methods. It works closely with the ENT departments of AP-HP hospitals and regional teaching hospitals, as well as with other hearing healthcare professionals, foremost among them hearing aid practitioners.
