CidB is an association dedicated to improving the noise environment.

The Centre d’Information et de Documentation sur le bruit (CidB) is a non-profit association under the French law of 1901, whose mission is to inform, raise awareness, document and train on the subject of environmental noise protection. Created in 1978 on the initiative of the French Ministry of the Environment, CidB is the main contact for the general public and the 1,000 or so public and private bodies involved in noise abatement. A non-profit organization, CidB (Centre d’information sur le bruit) is involved in promoting the fight against noise pollution and the quest for a quality noise environment that enhances the quality of life of our fellow citizens and contributes to their physical, mental and social well-being.

CidB’s main actions are as follows:

  • access to all existing resources (documentation, information, videos, news, research),
  • publications, guides and teaching,
  • highlighting innovative or experimental research and initiatives,
  • organization of symposia, conferences and other events concerning noise pollution, noise abatement from all sources and, more generally, the quality of the noise environment,
  • organizing cooperative actions between all the partners concerned.
