When sound creates image

International competition in partnership with the Institut Français
2018 Edition (1st edition)

Soundtrack composer

Born into a family of artists, Gréco Casadesus is an eclectic musician who trained at the Paris and Versailles conservatories.
Composer of numerous works for film, theater, television, chamber music and symphony concerts, he soon developed a passion for the new sounds of electronic lutherie, which he combined with his orchestral palette.
Artistic director of Pathé-Marconi EMI’s classical department at the age of 22, he produced nearly 250 recordings with such great masters as Rostropovitch, Prêtre, Maazel and Bernstein, in contact with whom he enriched his musical language and orchestration style.

As a producer, we owe him several albums (under the Opus Millésime label), a show(Les Trois Mousquetaires font du Cinéma) and a concert of images(Sept Mouvements de Vie) in tribute to Etienne-Jules Marey, the inventor of cinematographic movement.

He is also the founding president ofUCMF (Union des Compositeurs de Musique de Film), created in 2002.

His commitment to defending copyright has led him, since 1994, to become involved in the professional commissions of Sacem (Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Éditeurs de musique), of which he has been president and vice-president on several occasions.

As far as teaching is concerned , he devotes part of his time to helping people discover the many facets of the profession of composer of music for pictures, notably through his publications and conferences.
