Winners of the Place au Son 2024 competition

For students at schools and universities of architecture, urban planning, landscape, design, art, engineering & students enrolled in training courses in sound professions, acousticians, designers, musicians, composers, engineers, video artists, luthiers, etc.

Listening is a political act of resistance to the functionalism of urban operations that are insensitive to climate change, deaf to residents and unconcerned with landscape variations. While local authorities are now almost always equipped with noise observatories, we have to admit that developers are very poor at promoting the sound qualities of outdoor spaces. Listening is an act of sharing. Choosing a point of hearing means taking the time to stop and listen to the world around us. Place au Son is a competition open to students enrolled in higher education during their degree course and 3 years after graduation (in architecture, urban planning, landscape, geography, design, arts, music, theater, cinema, engineering, etc.).

“POINTS D’OUÏE ET MOBILIERS D’ÉCOUTE” :

This year’s edition of “Place au Son” invited students to enhance existing public squares, highlighting hearing points and creating listening furniture known as belsonères.
The aim was to create a dialogue with the sound identity of the place, the acoustics of the habitats and the inhabitants.
